Koch Institute Public Galleries

Building 76

The Koch Institute Public Galleries, located in within MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, were established to engage diverse public audiences in the fascinating, complex, visual, personal, and important work being done at the cutting edge of cancer research. Within the Galleries, visitors can explore current cancer research projects, examine striking biomedical images, hear personal reflections on cancer and cancer research, and investigate the historical, geographical and scientific contexts out of which the Koch Institute emerged.

Of particular note is the annual Image Awards exhibition, which recognizes the extraordinary visuals that are produced through life sciences and biomedical research at MIT. Such images serve as windows into otherwise invisible biological worlds, exemplifying the exchange of ideas between science and engineering – an interplay that is integral to the Koch Institute's approach to cancer research — and celebrating the insights that emerge when technological innovation meets artistic vision.
